Job Title: Cashier/General Clerk -Front EndDepartment: Front EndReport to: Front End ManagerStarting rate of pay: $16.25/hr**Kailua location starting rate of pay: $17.00/hrCompany Benefits: • Flexible Hours• Employee Discount• 10 Paid Holidays• (including 2 days for your birthday)*• Medical/Vision/Dental Package*• Free Life Insurance*• Vacation and Sick Leave*• Voluntary Insurance Plans (Life, Disability, Cancer, Accidental)• Long Term Disability• Wellness Program • Discounted Gym membership-(YMCA) • Matching 401K*• Free Life Insurance*• Vacation and Sick Leave*• Matching 401K*• Management Bonuses**For qualifying positionsPosition summary: Provides customer service to our customers, while operating cash register to ring up various items in exchange for currency.Job duties: - Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact, by name if possible during transactions- Assists customers while ringing up/weighing items for purchase- Bags like groceries together, while using the least number of bags- Checks for bottom of the basket- Verify/balance register till at the beginning and end of shift- Accept/Verify/Process payment from customer in the form of cash, credit, debit, ebt, and check- Verify/Process WIC checks, purchase orders, merchandise certificates and coupons- Check identification for tobacco and liquor purchases, as well as payment by credit card and check by following established company procedures- Register accuracy, knows/ carries out proper register procedures to meet company performance standards, price integrity- Refills bag wells in front end, keep workstation clean and organized by dusting, wiping, and sweeping area.- Performs duties of a courtesy clerk- Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by managerCapabilities:- Stand for long periods of time- Carry up to 40 pounds, frequent motions of arms and hands to ring up and bag groceries- Push and pull up to seven shopping carts during retrieval- Use proper safety procedures- Able to listen to directions and follow through independently- Good communication and observation skillsJob Skills: - Previous experience working with the public- Basic mathematical knowledge and cash handling experience preferred- Working knowledge of produce codes required, while able to differentiate between different produce products Environment:- Air condition while in store, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, and wind while retrieving wagons/helping customers to their car, and chill temperatures if products need to be retrieved from chill- Very fast pacedOther- Must be 18 years of age to ring register per company policy
