Job Description:

Harrison Steel's Casting Repair Welders eliminate any defects and shape our steel castings using powerful equipment that will end up on huge equipment used to shape the world. This critical position allows us to meet our company's driving principle of Satisfying Our Customer.

Casting Repair Welders:

  • Excavates out inclusions using a carbon arc
  • Welds using flux core wire to blend weld metal into the cast steel
  • Shapes critical casting features using a carbon arc and hand grinder

Ideal Casting Repair Welders have:

  • Experience with welding and carbon arc equipment
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and process

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Marks casting with welder symbol for traceability.
  • Repairs fully all defects marked by the Line Inspector using gouging, welding, burning, and carbon arc washing.
  • Removes excess material on the steel castings through precision burning and carbon arc washing.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; extreme cold and extreme heat The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
