Casualty Role PlayerOTA is seeking Casualty Role Players to support dynamic and immersive military training scenarios that will bring cultural and situational realism by simulating diverse characters and scenarios to prepare military units for real-world challenges. This role is physically demanding and requires adaptability, professionalism, and a commitment to contributing to critical training outcomes. Candidates with experience driving military vehicles or those who have experienced traumatic limb loss are encouraged to apply.Position Contingent Upon Contract AwardKey Responsibilities
- Participate in training scenarios to replicate real-world combat environments and support military readiness
- Portray battlefield casualties, including severe injuries such as:
- Traumatic amputations
- Bullet and blast effects
- Shrapnel wounds
- Head trauma
- Arterial bleeding
- Compound fractures
- Body dismemberment
- Engage in routine activities during training rotations, including meetings, social events, and collaborative exercises
- Collaborate with makeup artists and moulage professionals to ensure the application and maintenance of realistic wound simulations
- Operate military vehicles as part of scenario development, if qualified and required
Support and Accommodations
- Role Players will reside in lodging designed to accommodate their disabilities
- Transportation to and from the training area will be provided daily
- Moulage kits and makeup for wound simulation will be provided by OTA, along with support from trained and certified makeup personnel
Required Qualifications
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S. (original documentation required 30 days prior to each rotation)
- Background checks, including criminal activity, credit, and immigration documentation
- Completion of required security forms (e.g., SF 85P, OF 306, FBI fingerprint check)
- Previous experience in role-playing, acting, or similar immersive scenarios
- Ability to portray realistic trauma and engage in scenario-based training activities
- Familiarity with military operations, vehicles, or environments
- Missing at least one limb (amputation) to authentically portray battlefield injuries
- Ability to participate in light physical activities and scenario-based training
- Willingness to collaborate with makeup and moulage professionals for realistic effects
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team-based activities
Work Environment
- Casualty Role Players will work on-site at the National Training Center but will not reside in the field training area
- Daily transportation to and from Barstow, CA area will be provided
- Role Players will be supported by trained makeup professionals to create and maintain realistic casualty effects
- Work primarily conducted near Barstow, CA with occasional assignments in nearby remote locations
- The environment may expose individuals to extreme climates including heat, cold, rain, wind, and snow
- Operate independently with self-sustained equipment and appropriate clothing for the 16-day training rotation
- Operate in environments that may include training pyrotechnics (e.g., blanks, smoke, explosions) within a 25-meter proximity
- Comply with all conduct regulations as outlined in the base contract
