Job Summary:

The Intermediate Category Manager for Operations Services is responsible for managing the supply chain specifically within utility electric and gas operations. This role oversees competitive bid processes, leads negotiations, conducts market, price, and financial analyses, builds supplier relationships, monitors supplier performance, reports cost savings, and promotes continuous improvement and productivity with both suppliers and internal customers. The position requires an experienced professional capable of working independently and providing guidance to other employees, ensuring effective, high-quality resource acquisition.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop negotiation strategies and establish company positions on complex, multi-million-dollar contracts. Collaborate with the Office of General Counsel to incorporate necessary commercial protections, conducting negotiations to achieve optimal business outcomes.
  • Conduct market and financial analysis to assess risks associated with suppliers and contracts.
  • Build and maintain professional, ethical relationships with suppliers and partners, adhering to PPL's Standards of Conduct, Integrity, and Supply Chain Policies.
  • Serve as the corporate expert for assigned operations services categories, with knowledge of market drivers, supplier base, emerging technologies, regulatory factors, category spending, inventory, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Act as the primary liaison for suppliers within assigned categories.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in operations services procurement.
  • Knowledge of gas and electric utility products, equipment, and services.
  • Basic understanding of business law, commercial terms, and related legal considerations.
  • Experience drafting contracts for Utility Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Construction Projects.
