On the corner of A1A (Ocean Boulevard) and famed Atlantic Avenue within walking distance to the Avenue's shopping boutiques, bistros, outdoor cafes, art galleries, restaurants and nightlife.Summary:The Catering Event Manager is a key Full Time position, responsible for maintaining existing catering accounts as well as actively soliciting new business. In this role you will foster relationships with meeting planners, corporate contacts, as well as contact within the local social markets in order to meet or exceed revenue goals. This individual also oversees client functions to ensure customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be passionate about event planning and committed to educating themselves on current food & beverage trends. OPAL Grand is dedicated to maintaining the highest reputation within our industry and the Catering Event Manager must be able to sell and keep that promise for the property. Candidates may be called upon to work extended workweeks, including weekends, to accommodate a client's needs as well as any functions they are overseeing. Responsible for finalizing BEO's and telephoning customers, calling contact after each function to insure satisfaction, tracing files to insure proper finalization of program, and completing proper credit checks to insure correct payment. This position reports to the Director of Event Management and is held accountable for quarterly sales goals. Responsibilities:
  • Solicit, negotiate and book social catering events through efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, networking, etc.) while maximizing banquet space to meet/exceed revenue goals.
  • Execute a territorial marketing strategy to capture the maximum amount of revenue and meet/ exceed sales goals.
  • Plan, up-sell and detail the meeting/ function with the client including: space requirements, times, equipment, menus, themes/ decorations, etc. Complete the contracts, prepare the appropriate paperwork, coordinate with the appropriate areas in the hotel, resolve customer issues, complaints and problems to ensure quality product delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare status and month end reports to keep management abreast of activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate/ hotel procedures and products and the competition's product, strengths and weaknesses to continually improve sales strategies and the achievement of goals.
  • Participate in communication and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and promote sales.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task forces and committees as required.
Requirements:

  • Must be a team player
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Great preference will be given to local candidates.
  • Knowledge of Delphi and Cvent Systems is preferred but not required.
  • 2-4 years' experience preferred
  • A degree in hotel and restaurant management /hospitality/event planning or
  • Comparable field of study is preferred but not required.
