This includes managing staff, inventory, sales, and customer relationships while ensuring compliance with company standards. The Catering Manager will play a key role in driving the growth of the catering business, while upholding Kessler's Core Values and commitment to excellence. We are dedicated to our mission and want a Catering Manager with drive and the skills to support it! Key Responsibilities:
  • Client Relations & Event Management:
    • Act as the primary contact for clients throughout the event planning process, listening to their needs, presenting solutions, and ensuring successful execution.
    • Manage all logistics related to catering and special events, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of services.
    • Build and retain direct relationships with clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.
    • Attend events to oversee operations, ensuring the event is well-managed and the client is satisfied.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Supervise and motivate a team of retail sales workers, ensuring high performance and a positive work environment.
    • Adjust daily schedules to optimize staffing and efficiency.
    • Train, evaluate, and provide ongoing development opportunities for employees.
    • Address employee issues, implement improvement plans, and ensure proper performance standards.
  • Financial & Inventory Management:
    • Oversee the profitability and financial performance of the catering department, including budget management, expense control, and labor targets.
    • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and manage the purchasing of supplies.
    • Ensure proper execution of policies and procedures to maintain cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Customer Service & Sales:
    • Ensure excellent customer service by maintaining a high standard of service, addressing customer inquiries, and resolving issues effectively.
    • Promote Kessler's catering services to the community and grow event/catering sales.
    • Maintain a detailed database of communications with current, prospective, and former clients.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, and cleaning procedures.
    • Adhere to company policies and procedures to maintain a high standard of service and operational excellence.
Work Environment:
  • Retail environment, with occasional exposure to chemicals, hazardous substances, and extreme temperatures (as low as -20°F).
  • Physical demands include long periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent work on wet and slippery surfaces.
  • Driving a company vehicle may be required.
  • Office work environment using a laptop for communication and documentation.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in retail, meat management, catering, or other related fields.
  • Proven ability to manage a team, with strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-focused, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; further education in hospitality or business management is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours when necessary.
