This includes managing staff, inventory, sales, and customer relationships while ensuring compliance with company standards. The Catering Manager will play a key role in driving the growth of the catering business, while upholding Kessler's Core Values and commitment to excellence. - Client Relations & Event Management:
- Act as the primary contact for clients throughout the event planning process, listening to their needs, presenting solutions, and ensuring successful execution.
- Manage all logistics related to catering and special events, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of services.
- Build and retain direct relationships with clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Attend events to oversee operations, ensuring the event is well-managed and the client is satisfied.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise and motivate a team of retail sales workers, ensuring high performance and a positive work environment.
- Adjust daily schedules to optimize staffing and efficiency.
- Train, evaluate, and provide ongoing development opportunities for employees.
- Address employee issues, implement improvement plans, and ensure proper performance standards.
- Financial & Inventory Management:
- Oversee the profitability and financial performance of the catering department, including budget management, expense control, and labor targets.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels and manage the purchasing of supplies.
- Ensure proper execution of policies and procedures to maintain cost control and operational efficiency.
- Customer Service & Sales:
- Ensure excellent customer service by maintaining a high standard of service, addressing customer inquiries, and resolving issues effectively.
- Promote Kessler's catering services to the community and grow event/catering sales.
- Maintain a detailed database of communications with current, prospective, and former clients.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, and cleaning procedures.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures to maintain a high standard of service and operational excellence.
Work Environment:
- Retail environment, with occasional exposure to chemicals, hazardous substances, and extreme temperatures (as low as -20°F).
- Physical demands include long periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent work on wet and slippery surfaces.
- Driving a company vehicle may be required.
- Office work environment using a laptop for communication and documentation.
Requirements
- Previous experience in retail, meat management, catering, or other related fields.
- Proven ability to manage a team, with strong leadership and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.
- High School Diploma or GED required; further education in hospitality or business management is a plus.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours when necessary.
