The Capital Region SNAP-Ed Nutrition Education program provides free, evidence-based nutrition education and obesity prevention programs to help promote healthy behaviors across all stages of life.Community Nutrition Educators work with eligible families and individuals of all ages providing tools, tips, and tricks to help make affordable, nutritious food choices and choose physically active lifestyles. Educators use multiple approaches including hands-on interactive group teaching styles and offering classes on a variety of nutrition topics. Educators also assist with implementing policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) change activities that help increase easier, healthier choices for program participants in their communities.Educators work as part of an effective, flexible team assisting each other with programs, events, and initiatives as needed. Educators work primarily out of the CCE Albany's Albany, NY office, but the majority of each day is spent traveling throughout the region to deliver programs and events.We firmly believe in work-life balance and provide generous paid time off. This position is full-time. Compensation is paid at the rate of $25.05 per hour and includes 21 Vacation days, 14 Holidays, 3 Personal days and 12 Sick days annually. Mileage for work related travel is reimbursed. This position frequently demonstrates recipes and meal preparation techniques.Preferred Qualifications+ Degree or coursework in nutrition, public health, health education, or related fields.Position Responsibilities & Essential FunctionsProgram Responsibilities:Program Delivery - 70%+ Teach existing educational programs primarily in community-based settings and events.+ Assist in delivering components of the existing PSE educational program designed to improve access and remove barriers to healthy food and physical activity opportunities. Utilizing already developed material, assist in delivering PSE related training and/or resources to community agency and school personnel and volunteers.+ Serve as subject matter resource; provide standard responses.+ Participate as an active member of the Capital Region SNAP-Ed program team.+ Foster acceptance of the program, methods, and policies to address community and individual needs and consider diverse audiences.+ Interact with program participants as part of program delivery.+ Represent CCE before the public, community leaders, government officials, Cornell or other land grant universities as part of program delivery.+ Occasionally apply established subject matter knowledge to create lesson plans as identified.+ May assist in delivering innovative educational programs.+ May assist in multidisciplinary or multi-association team efforts to deliver programs.Program Evaluation - 5%+ Implement program evaluation as designed.+ Assist in making recommendations for improvements.Administrative Responsibilities:Direction - 5%+ Assist in planning assigned programs.+ Assist in developing, expanding, and enhancing relationships for the program.Management - 5%+ Assist in managing assigned programs.+ May assist in solving problems and resolving conflicts that arise.Coordination/Operation - 10%+ Organize and coordinate program activities (e.g. food demonstrations, direct lessons to adults and youth, etc.) directly with community-based agencies, to support delivery of established program goals.+ Effectively collaborate with, develop, and maintain professional relationships with partner organizations and others.+ Recruit program participants to meet or exceed program delivery goals.+ Coordinate assigned projects, programs, trainings, events, and meetings.+ May assist in the development of marketing or other materials.+ Assist supervisor with drafting impacts statements, social media posts, etc.+ Complete and submit all required reports, records, and documentation (e.g., program data, evaluation data, incident reports, expense reports, etc.) in a timely manner.+ Maintain confidentiality of information regarding all program participants.Professional Improvement - 5%+ In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.+ Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.Health and Safety - Applied to all duties and functions+ Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.+ Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.+ Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.EEO/EPO and Policy - Applied to all duties and functions+ Appreciate and embrace diversity in all interactions with clientele, staff, volunteers and the public.+ Assist the Cornell Cooperative Extension system in reaching out to diverse audiences.+ Aware of, and adheres to, established Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Albany County policies, procedures and Cornell Cooperative Extension Skills for Success.+ Contribute to the overall success of the organization by performing all assigned duties in a professional, timely and accurate manner.Position DetailsThis is a full-time, nonexempt position, 37.5 hours/week.
