The role involves ensuring the safe and timely delivery of goods, performing routine vehicle inspections, and adhering to all relevant regulations and safety standards.Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Operates commercial vehicles, such as dump trucks, flatbeds, or tankers, to deliver dirt, gravel, and other materials to job sites.
- Conducts pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
- Performs basic maintenance tasks and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
- Efficiently loads and unloads materials using appropriate equipment and techniques to ensure proper handling and safety.
- Adheres to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including DOT rules and safety protocols.
- Maintains accurate records of delivery schedules, mileage, and fuel consumption; complete required paperwork and logbooks.
- Coordinates with site supervisors and other team members to ensure timely and accurate deliveries; communicate any delays or issues promptly.
- Follows all company and job site safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Valid CDL (Class A or B, depending on vehicle requirements).
- Previous experience as a CDL driver, preferably in the construction or dirt work industry.
- Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and perform manual labor; stamina to work long hours and in various weather conditions.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle operation, maintenance, and safety practices; good communication skills and attention to detail.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods sitting in a trailer cab or pilot's cabin for long periods of time.
- Ability to maintain single task focus and situational awareness.
- Long term physical fitness for duty to maintain all licenses and certifications of fitness as required by regulatory agencies and licensing entities (DMV, FAA, DOT, et cetera).
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Determine the distance between objects.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
