DRIVER/EQUIPMENT OPERATOR JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Driver/Equipment Operator is a key team member serving our customers. This year-round position handles tree spade operations and other key activities completing a variety of interesting jobs each week. Equipment training is provided. WHAT A DAY LOOKS LIKE:In this position the Driver/Equipment Operator utilizes skills and specialized training with our specialized trucks and equipment. Interfacing with a variety of other different position in the organization, the position provides opportunity for learning and growth in the green industry.SKILLS NEEDED AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The ability to run various types of equipment, who enjoys working outdoors
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years driving experience with a clean driving record
- CDL license
- The responsibility and independence to work autonomously
- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills to understand and meet client needs
- A predictable Mon-Fri schedule and 7AM start time, typically 40-50 hours per week. Saturdays and storm response on a case-by-case basis.
- Operating truck-mounted log loader from standard open operator station approximately 14' off the ground.
- Assisting general tree care crews with material handling and cleanup of the job site, and any other relevant duties.
- Transporting various equipment including loading, unloading, and load securement.
- Operating other equipment including trucks, excavators, skid steers, chippers, stump grinders, and cranes.
- Obtaining any necessary licenses or certifications for compliance and/or career advancement (e.g. MA hoister's license, national crane operator's license).
- Periodically assisting with preventative maintenance including greasing of equipment.
- Performing daily pre- and post-trip walkaround inspections and notifying supervisor promptly of any mechanical needs or safety issues.
- Transmissions include 13-speed and 6-speed and automatic; and may include 8LL, 10-speed, 18-speed, etc.
