Responsibilities
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Perform various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for CEI Department
- Build and maintain relationships with Clients in Central and South Florida
- Monitor FDOT, local government, and other agencies' CEI work programs
- Prepare technical and price proposals
- Participate in Client presentations
- Prepare, evaluate, and monitor budgets, forecasts, and manpower estimates
- Manage contracts, including invoicing and financial management, as well as project management and overall project performance
- Exercise independent judgment in evaluating and analyzing complex construction and design issues and providing solutions for transportation and transportation-related projects with limited supervision
- General management and oversite of multiple CEI projects
- Lead and direct CEI teams supporting Clients that include the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), local government agencies, and other facility owners/agencies
- Determine staff needs for projects
- Supports talent recruitment efforts
- Plan and organizes the work of subconsultants and subordinate team members
- Develop and/or review policies, methods, practices, and procedures.
- Direct highly complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection program
- Reviews programs for conformance with Department standards
- Monitor and evaluate construction schedules
- Review Contractor claims and make presentations regarding project disputes
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience:
- BS in Civil Engineering and 10+ years of experience on CEI projects and programs.
- Must have a Florida Professional Engineer license.
- Prior relevant work experience in the greater Tampa or Orlando area (along I4 corridor) with FDOT D1, D5, D7 preferred. South Florida experience will also be considered with FDOT D4 and / or Central Office, Turnpike, GMX, and CFX.
- Five (5) years of Senior Project Engineer experience (required) with an overall ten (10) years of related engineering experience (required)
- Minimum of five (5) of the years of related experience must be in major road or bridge construction
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining client relations.
- Demonstrated experience in leading new business pursuits and making Client presentations.
- Be able to mentor and help develop Junior and Intermediate engineers and CEI personnel
- Experience leading a team to successfully execute CEI Contracts
- FDOT Advanced MOT
- FDOT CTQP Quality Control Manager
- FDOT CEI CTQPs for Concrete and Earthwork preferred.
- Ability to direct highly complex and specialized construction administration and inspection programs
- Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19 or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
- Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
- Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR)
- Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing);
- Experience with project scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera a plus.
- Prior experience in State and Federal Aid funded construction projects with FDOT and/or FEMA a plus.
- Ability to analyze, collect, evaluate data, and take appropriate action when necessary
