Today, our more than 18,000 solutions play a vital role in paving the way for the medicine of tomorrow.Cell Processing ScientistPhiladelphia, PAYour Tasks:This role is responsible for the operation of a core laboratory that focuses on the isolation of primary cells from various blood products for basic research needs. Responsibilities also include execution cell isolations on various instruments (CliniMACS Prodigy, MultiMACS 24, manual columns), flow analysis for process and product evaluation, maintaining an ELN, ordering necessary supplies, and maintaining a small lab and related equipment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the isolation of requested target cell populations from commercial blood sources on the CliniMACS Prodigy, MultiMACS 24, or manual separation (to be provided by Client via suitable third parties) as requested by Client staff.
  • Generate basic cell QC reports (purity and yield of isolated cells only) utilizing the Miltenyi MACSQuant analyzer (access to be provided by Client).
  • Complete cryopreservation of isolated cells.
  • Provide fresh isolated cells as requested by client.
  • Responsible for the labeling of cryopreserved cells and documenting the batch when stored in client freezer.
  • Responsible for running a lab and managing the necessary workload in an independent manner.
  • Responsible for the proper maintenance of equipment.
  • Responsible to perform cleaning of equipment as required.
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping of experimental procedures and general lab work in an electric lab notebook (ELN).
  • Close co-operation and teamwork are required.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree or higher in Biology, Cell Biology or related field; Minimum of 3 years' experience post college as a lab technician, associate scientist, lab manager; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven track record of independent experiment execution and able to provide analytical assessment of results.
  • Experience with cell separation techniques required.
  • Experience with adherent and suspension cell culture at various scales is preferable.
  • Previous experience supporting tech transfer of cell culture process is desirable.
Skills:
  • Ability to operate a computer with Windows™ operating system, Outlook™ email, internet, and basic MS Office™ products such as Word and Excel.

This job is performed in a temperature-controlled facility without exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures. Generally, this job is performed in a clean laboratory setting and routinely uses standard medical and research equipment such as centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, microscopes, incubators, pipettes and computers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to blood, viruses, bacteria, body fluids and other tissues. Employees entering and leaving the laboratory must wear appropriate clothing and protective equipment such as lab coats, glasses and gloves.
