This classification is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations and/or the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act. As a safety-sensitive classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana certification will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.

JOB SUMMARY: This is a non-exempt position that requires manual and semi-skilled work. The incumbent employee will perform all, or variations of, the following duties and responsibilities as assigned. Job descriptions may be modified based on City needs and employees may be required to perform functions beyond those described below and employees are at will employees in that either party may terminate the employment relationship with or without notice.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

* Performs a variety of maintenance tasks and minor repairs.

* Mows, trims, waters, trees and shrubbery, and does other tasks to keep the cemetery in good order.

* Operates weed eater and applies herbicide per directions as required.

* Pickup up trash and debris.

* Performs maintenance and repair on the cemetery gates and fences.

* Prepares graves for all types of interments (adult, baby and cremation).

* Troubleshoots minor electrical mechanical equipment problems.

* Detects hazardous atmosphere and corrects before entry into confined space.

* Detects and reports and/or corrects unsafe working conditions of immediate work sites to supervisor.

* May operate back-hoe and riding mowers.

* Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Ability to represent the City in a positive manner with the public and bereaved families.

* Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

* General maintenance experience.

* Experience in operating all mowing and related equipment.

* Knowledge of tools, equipment and their use.

* Skill in working safely with carpentry and power tools; working with motorized equipment indoors and outdoors.

* Skill in foot/hand/eye coordination.

* Skill in repair and preventive maintenance of equipment and tools.

* Must have knowledge of safety practices and procedures.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Must have an Oklahoma driver's license and maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier.

SUPERVISION REQUIRED: Works directly under supervision of Park Supervisor.

SUPERVISION GIVEN: None.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL HAZARDS:

* May be exposed to noxious and dangerous chemicals.

* Must be willing to perform call-back work during off duty hours.

* Most of work is performed outdoors in inclement weather and during all seasons. Some work is performed in confined areas, on rough, uneven terrain and on slick and wet surfaces.

* Exposure to vibration, continuous noise, offensive smells, dust, dirt and water.

* Must have strength to pull, lift, and push 50 pound objects on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an infrequent basis; flexibility to bend twist, reach; mobility to climb, crawl, walk, and stamina to exert self throughout the day in all weather conditions.

* Exposed to injury from moving equipment, slippery surfaces, chemicals, and hazardous materials.

* Must have knowledge of safety practices and procedures.

SPECIAL LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: State Technical Certification for Herbicides and Pesticides.
