Job Description:

The Town of Jackson, Public Works Department is accepting applications for a part-time, year round, Cemetery Sexton. Hiring range $34.32 - $38.80/hr DOQ. This is a critically important job in a vital and sensitive position of trust with the community. The position works approximately 400 hours per year with some duties structured and repeating but also responding to on demand needs in working with families during a very challenging time in their lives.

The primary duties involve working closely with the Streets and Water Managers for coordination of services, burials and grounds maintenance and also working closely with the Department of Internal Services for plot administration and records management throughout the year. Ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills with the public with a focus on empathy and understanding and be very detail oriented. Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to: High School graduation or equivalent, and 1-2 yrs experience in public relations, land records administration, surveying, public grounds and road maintenance, budget administration or related fields.
