JOB SUMMARYThe Center Manager/Nurse Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the health center and participates in general policy making and program development. Coordinates all Center services.Responsible for direct and indirect patient care and functions that are part of nursing management. Supervises specified Center staff directly. Develops/implements performance standards and evaluates employees based on these standards. Participates in a team-based approach to care in the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). Participates in activities related to Quality Improvement.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIESReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsWeights15% 1.Participates in hiring, orientation, and on-going training of Center staff. Schedules staff, covers absences, and coordinates time off requests for front desk, nursing, and provider staff. Responsible for staff payroll submission and approval timecard submission for salaried staff.10% 2.Conducts employee evaluations for Center Staff in a timely manner, monitors performance, counsels, and implements appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary. Documents all performance monitoring/counseling activities. Assesses staff competency during initial orientation and annually thereafter.10% 3.Maintains responsibility for operations of the front desk including reception, scheduling, telephone answering, and on-site billing/collections. Develops, monitors and implements front desk policies and procedures.Coordinates activities of front desk with patient treatment areas.15% 4.Maintains responsibility for nursing care provided at the Center in coordination with medical patient care policies. Ensures that nurses and medical assistants comply with patient care protocols/policies. Coordinates work-ins, scheduling, and keeps patients informed of delays. Monitors patient flow and alerts staff of any emergencies.5% 5.Assists with procedures, medication administration, and vital sign monitoring as needed to expedite patient care.10% 6.Maintains all medical supplies in coordination with GLBHC purchasing department; monitors on-site shipping and receiving functions; assesses equipment needs and ensures that equipment is operational. Maintains vaccine inventory appropriately - monitors vaccine administration and documentation to assure availability of vaccines and compliance with immunization protocols.10% 7.Actively pursues a positive image for the Center at all times. Assess patient complaints and reviews with providers and/or Administration as necessary. Serves as liaison between patients, providers and other departments. Follows up on patient questions and grievances regarding medical care and treatment. Communicates effectively with providers, staff, other providers' offices, hospitals, administration and other GLBHC sites. Monitors activities of visitors.15% 8.Responsible for implementation of Quality Improvement initiatives and activities including Patient Centered Medical Home recognition. Actively participates in QI, Management, Safety, and other corporate meetings. Complies and submits QI monitoring/Outcome Improvement Plans and other reports as requested. Ensures completion and timely submission of Incident Reports, Reports of Injury, and employee return to work slips.10% 9.Ensures appropriate utilization of electronic medical records by providers and support staff. Is considered a super user of EMR at site. Maintains patient confidentiality. Works collaboratively with the HIM department in processing record requests, faxes, and scanned documents to maintain accurate and complete medical records.5% 10.Monitors cleanliness of Center daily supervises housekeeping activities and informs appropriate staff in Administration regarding findings. Keeps updated on laws and regulations as they relate to medical practice.Participates in off-site public relations activities and community events asMonitors staff for proper dress including wearing of name badge and adherence to employee handbook policies.Maintains providers' clinic and on-call schedules. Approves provider time-off requests, in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer/ MedicalAttends physician's meetings, and billing meetings/trainings.Provides assistance to the front desk in the absence of staff.Performs other duties as assigned.JOB SPECIFICATIONSEducation: RN. required, B.S.N. preferred.Licensure: Registered NurseExperience: Three years' experience working in a community health caresetting. Knowledge of local health care/social service system. Previous supervisory/management experience preferred.Skills: Problem identification and resolution, working toward mutually beneficial situations. Self-motivated. Decision maker. Able to function with minimal daily supervision. Organized and detail oriented.Interpersonal: Ability to work with, and communicate effectively with, a diverse population. Ability to promote confidence, cooperation and good working relationships among employees and staff at all locations. Fair and consistent in all dealings with all staff.Physical Effort: MediumHours of Work: Full-time. Flexible and varied.Travel: Local travel between GLBHC sites required.Some out of service area travel may be required. Reimbursement in accordance with GLBHC travel policy.
