Job Summary
We would like the candidate to have a flair for dealing with large multi-disciplinary teams of faculty researchers across institutions. They will work to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results within area of specialization. May manage projects or processes which are often difficult and complex. Lead and direct a small to mid-sized team with focus on policy and strategy implementation. Establish short-term operational plans with measurable contribution towards achievement of results. May manage certain processes or projects within a defined budget set by management.
The candidate would have high visibility in front of the External Advisory Board which comprises multiple companies plus the National Science Foundation and the Army Research Lab. The candidate should have good organizational skills for events such as:
* Annual meetings
* Workshops
* External meetings between center leadership and external interested parties
* Internal meetings among center researchers
* Coordination between faculty and the industry external advisory board members
What You'll Be Doing:
* Oversee staff in the operations of a laboratory or research center.
* Implement policies, procedures, and standards for research operations.
* Ensure laboratory safety practices and procedures are followed.
* Verify quality of research data.
* May recommend new research ideas and protocols; conduct literature searches, and draft grant proposal documents.
* Oversee the maintenance and repair of equipment.
* Creating planning documents that involve multiple stakeholders across institutions.
* Logistics of ordering material for the lab, organizing meetings and events.
* Monitor materials used including inventory control and vendor management.
* Interacting with external stakeholders and PIs at other universities that are part of CHORUS and A2I2.
* Communicate with parties within and outside of area to explain facts, policies and practices related to field of specialization.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computing, or Business/Technology Management
* Minimum of four (4) years of experience in project or program management, business development, or research administration
* Handled teams of 10+ in an academic environment
Skills needed:
* Financial status reporting and projections
* Creating reports in Word/Open Office/Google Doc
* Creating and delivering high-level presentations on administrative matters
