Job Type Full-time Description Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
- Perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance work on plant equipment; maintain records of maintenance work done on equipment; disconnect equipment before removal
- Performs corrective maintenance on plant equipment and process systems such as parts replacement, equipment changes, cleaning of tanks and basins
- Maintains equipment and structures, including, pumps, valves, compressors, generators, chillers, boilers, electrical systems
- Inspects, operates, adjusts, calibrates, and repairs plant equipment
- Reads, maintains and repairs gauges and meters to ensure the proper operations of plant equipment
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems with industrial-type mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment; performs a variety of electrical tests, understands, reads and uses blueprints, ladder diagrams, and construction and mechanical drawings to isolate and correct problems
- Lubricates and packs pumps; replaces mechanical seals and other worn or damaged parts on pumping equipment
- Maintains up-to-date and accurate manuals and reference guides, records and logs of operating conditions of equipment and maintenance work performed by entering data on a computer for tracking repairs and maintenance of completed work orders
- Maintains repairs parts and supply inventory
- Uses and maintains a variety of hand tools, power tools, electrical testing devices and hoisting equipment
- Climb stairs and ladders
- Competently and effectively operates a fork truck and hoisting equipment
- Maintains tools, vehicles, equipment and work areas in a clean, safe condition
- Utilizes a computer, to prepare documents, print forms, use the work order system, and view SCADA screens
- Make recommendations with supporting information that evaluates the cost-effectiveness of repair versus replacement
- Conduct safety inspections on assigned vehicles, plant equipment, and facilities
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements Education and Experience
- High School diploma and minimum 2-3 years of previous mechanical maintenance to include HVAC, fire suppression, pneumatic, and electrical systems
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong communication skills with ability to coordinate work with other team members and customers
- Excellent command of English, written and spoken.
- Strong organizational skills to effectively manage time and resources in the most efficient manner
- Ability to work independently
Licenses
- Must have valid driver's license; be insurable on the company insurance and able to travel as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Works under the direction of the Customer's Manager of the Central Energy Plant serving the Indianapolis International Airport.
Working Conditions
- Work to be performed inside the Central Energy Plant serving the Indianapolis International Airport
- Working hours are from 7:00 to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday
- Heavy physical effort required for frequent lifting or moving of heavy materials
- Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and walk a project site
- Regularly required to sit or stand, bend, and reach
- Ability to work in confined space
