CUSTODIANPart-Time PositionCentral Office, Apple Center & TLC4pm-8pm M-FGeneral Definition of Work Under general supervision, performs a variety of general custodial work in the care and maintenance of assigned buildings and facilities. Work involves sweeping, mopping and using vacuum cleaners to clean floors; washing walls, woodwork and fixtures; and policing buildings to empty trash receptacles and pick up debris, etc. Qualification Requirements
- General knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment employed in janitorial work.
- Some knowledge of cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning materials.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing work assignments.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
- Has proven attendance record.
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
Reports to Assistant Superintendent Essential Functions
- Sweeps, mops, vacuums, floor surfaces.
- Scrubs and cleans bathrooms, including toilets, mirrors, wash basins, urinals, commodes, etc. Fills tissue, towels, soap and other dispensers, disinfects as needed.
- Empties trash receptacles; deposits recyclable material in proper receptacles.
- Dust furniture
- Secure buildings at end of workday; turn off lights at end of day
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchens and break areas
- Performs related work as required.
Physical Requirements
- Must be physically able to operate vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, brooms, mop,etc.
- Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to push, pull, and carry or otherwise move objects.
- Requires climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion.
- Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using janitorial equipment. Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as janitorial equipment.
- Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
- Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear.)
- Physical demand requirements are for medium work.
Special Requirements Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.
