Summary of Job Duties: Generates, manages and updates master schedules for the Nursing Department, while making adjustments as needed, according to budget constraints, census fluctuations, call outs, and pre-planned leaves of absence. Establishes and maintains a professional relationship with the administrative and clinical staff.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
* Utilizes computer software to prepare, change and update the master schedule
* Monitors daily staffing report according to staffing grid
* Prepares a 6 week schedule based on a specified staffing pattern
* Reviews master nursing schedule for staffing deficiencies and coordinates optimal utilization of available staff
* Replaces call outs in a prompt manner. During scheduled shifts, covers staff shortages, if any, including second shift, third shift, and weekends
* Communicates with the evening, night and weekend supervisors about all staffing issues and needs
* Schedules orienting staff with preceptors as directed for orientation and follows through the orientation process
* Assists in scheduling staff for CPR & HWC to ensure they maintain their current certification
* Reviews and reconciles weekly time for nursing and social services staff and corrects in Kronos.
* Monitors staff absenteeism and tardiness and reports promptly to appropriate unit coordinator, supervisor, or department head
* Successfully completes all required trainings via in services and/or Healthstream in a timely manner

Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED, preferably an Associate's degree in related field
Experience: Experience and knowledge of organizing and managing the master schedule plan for clinical staffing; effective time management and organizational skills, preferably in a hospital setting and 2 years of experience
