39443646 * *GENERAL SUMMARY* * Decontaminate, clean, process, and sterilize supplies and equipment dispensed by the department, following infection control practices and guidelines. * *FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* * * Follows manufacturer instructions for use for steam and low temperature sterilization * Follows manufacturer instructions for use for decontamination, disinfection of instruments, and flexible endoscopes according to department standards and industry guidelines * Demonstrates knowledge of surgical instrument kits * Demonstrates knowledge of how to properly inspect and assemble kits * Adheres to hospital policies for CSR as well as follow AAMI guidelines (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instruments * Performs equipment testing: Bowies and Biologicals, and reports any abnormal results to the supervisor * Delivery of sterile instruments and kits in a timely manner, within 48 hours, to other departments within the hospital * Maintains a clean work environment in accordance to regulator guidelines and hospital policy. Damp dusting horizontal surfaces, end of day cleaning, removal of trash and laundry * Attends staff meetings and in services * Stays up to date on departmental communication and required annual and periodical competencies * Participates in orientation of new staff as needed * Completes other daily tasks as requested and assigned * Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned * Answer the phone and take messages when needed * Help with different reps that come in with trays or help with them taking trays out * Help the OR when they are looking for a kit or instrument * *POSITION REQUIREMENTS * * *Knowledge / Skills / Abilities* * *Experience* * *Education* * High school diploma or GED * Central Sterile certification required within 2 years of hire.
