Central Sterile Supply Supervisor Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director, CSS Supervisor, supervises and directs the personnel activities necessary for the processing of supplies, equipment and instruments handled through the Central Sterile Supply Room.
Central Sterile Supply Supervisor Job Responsibilities:
* Must know all CSS Tech I and II responsibilities.
* Responsible for overseeing orientation and precepting of CSS Tech I and II.
* Responds to OR needs including follow through.
* Participates on Quality Improvement Teams as requested and Quality initiative in department.
* Assist with the creation and evaluation of departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
* Attends variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.
* Assists in collection and monitoring of use of quality indicators in daily, weekly, monthly or annual operations.
* Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
* Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
* All responsibilities are essential job functions unless noted otherwise.
* Responsible for CEUs and maintaining certification with a recognized certification agency.
* Complies with all Department Policies and Procedures
Central Sterile Supply Supervisor Education and Experience Requirements:
* Five years of CSS and/or CST experience.
* Advanced knowledge of CSS processing functions.
* Demonstrated competencies in complex instrumentation such (as but not limited to) ENT, GYN/OB, Laparoscopic, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Ophthalmology, General Surgery and Urology services.
* Experience with instrument cleaning and sterilization methods.
* Must demonstrate competencies of training (CSS Tech)
Central Sterile Supply Supervisor Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Ability to operate sterilizers/Washers/Decontaminators/Ultrasonic Sterrad and related equipment and have knowledge of required standards and protocols for operating equipment and instrumentations.
* Ability to use judgement in establishing priorities, work well under pressure, multitask.
* Ability to stand for long periods of time and adapt to repetitive procedures.
* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work under Director's supervision.
* Good manual and finger dexterity. Good color vision and visual acuity.
* Ability to use tact in dealing with patients, visitors, staff and physicians.
* Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
* Must be self-motivated, able to work independently with little or no supervision.
