MCD Global Health is a nonprofit global public health organization recognized in the United States and around the world as a leader, innovator, and trusted partner.With almost 60 years of expertise rooted in improving access to care and strengthening the health workforce, our portfolio includes leadership in malaria, telehealth, e-learning, oral health, cervical cancer, health system strengthening, and more. MCD has an annual budget of approximately $37M and currently implements programs across the United States and in seven countries in Africa and Latin America, including Equatorial Guinea and Mozambique, with past projects in more than fifty countries. This is an opportunity to guide an organization of mission-driven professionals who are making meaningful impact on public health around the world.The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the pressing public health challenges faced by diverse communities and have a proven track record in leading organizations to scale their impact. With MCD's 2023-2027 strategic plan focused on expanding financial support from foundations, the private sector, and large governmental and institutional grants, financial acumen and experience building and sustaining relationships across sectors will serve this position well.MCD is fortunate to employ multicultural and passionate professionals.   • Guide MCD Global Health to achieve its vision, mission, unique value proposition, and overall strategy and direction.
    • Lead the organization through dynamic internal and external environments, adapting as needed to assure strategic direction.
    • Collaborate with the Board and senior leaders to create long-term actionable strategies, effective partnerships, and organizational reforms for overall impact and growth.
    • Ensure services and funding meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives.
  • Financial Management and Business Development:
    • Oversee the preparation, presentation, and approval of the annual budget reviews, quarterly reviews, and periodic forecasts.
    • Cultivate long-term relationships with key funders, leaders, and partners.
    • Drive the development and execution of a robust, diversified funding and market strategy.
  • Human Resources and Operational Management:
    • Approve implementation of major systems in company operations.
    • Lead, coach, advise, and mentor executive leadership team, as well as selected senior staff.
    • Maintain a healthy and respectful working environment, fostering a culture of inclusion and continuous improvement.
    • Manage the leadership team and play a lead role in attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse, highly qualified staff
    • Reinforce alignment across the organization, ensuring that the international and U.S. programs work in close cooperation.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Visibility:
    • Serve as the primary public-facing representative of MCD, and enhance MCD's visibility with donors, clients, and the public.
    • Ensure MCD continues to develop and publish state-of-the art technical contributions to the field of public health.
  • Board Engagement:
    • Report to the MCD Board of Directors, providing them with accurate and timely reports on revenue results, variances, and performance trends.
    • Maintain regular and ongoing communication to build strong relationships with the Board.
Requirement and Skills
  • At least eight years of experience in a senior or executive level role.
  • Significant knowledge of public health challenges in the United States and internationally, specifically in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Education: Advanced degree (MD, MPH, PhD, MBA, etc.) in a relevant field such as public health, international development, health policy, nonprofit management, or business administration.
  • Proven track record in business development, program delivery, and strategic leadership.
  • Financial Acumen: Competence in financial management, budget oversight, and ensuring accountability and transparency.
  • Cultural Awareness: Familiarity with and respect for diverse cultures, with the ability to lead and work effectively across different cultural and political contexts.
  • Partnership Development: Exceptional skill in networking, building, and sustaining professional relationships with governments, other NGOs, donors, and multilateral organizations.
  • Innovative and Forward-Thinking: Proven track record of identifying opportunities for growth and leveraging technology to enhance impact.
  • Inclusive, collaborative, ethical, resilient, adaptable, and transparent leadership style.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
  • The ability to travel 25% in U.S. and internationally.
  • Fluency in English. Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Portuguese desirable.
  • Having lived and worked in low- or middle-income countries is a plus.
