Description
Responsibilities:
- Promote a culture that prioritizes safety and quality within the organization.
- Lead the development of ceramic thermal processes, working with both new and existing materials and processes, utilizing DOE, profile development, and lab analysis.
- Drive improvements in processes that impact yields, capacity, cycle times, and costs.
- Standardize processes within the kiln department, including creating job instructions, production control boards, and noncompliance procedures.
- Contribute to identifying, justifying, and implementing capital equipment and engineering projects to support manufacturing goals.
- Optimize machine and material process parameters using LEAN principles, DOE, statistical analysis, and materials science.
- Collaborate closely with production personnel to track, optimize, and troubleshoot processes.
- Provide technical support to resolve manufacturing disruptions and implement permanent, sustainable countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and deliver training materials to increase organizational awareness and functional knowledge where needed.
- Manage the selection, performance monitoring, and procurement of refractory materials.
- Advise, train, and support maintenance teams on best practices, stocking levels, and components needed for quick repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Interface with vendors and contracted support to ensure kilns are maintained and meet thermal deliverables.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Materials Science, Chemical, or Ceramic Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience with electronics and/or combustion equipment.
- Expertise in process engineering and design.
- Hands-on experience with production and laboratory equipment, including furnaces, ovens, programmable controllers, and materials characterization tools.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within small teams.
