The Iona University Athletic Department is currently inviting applications for an open Assistant Athletic Trainer position. Sports assignments will include, but are not limited to, Men's Basketball. The individual in this position will provide preventative and rehabilitative health care to Iona University student-athletes. Responsibilities of this position include providing athletic training services to the Iona student-athletes for practices and games, determining course of treatments for injured athletes, consulting the Head Athletic Trainer and/or referring to Team Physician as needed, and maintaining athletic training equipment and supplies. This individual will also assist in other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Providing athletic training services for all varsity sports at Iona University
* Travel required for assigned sports
* Attendance at scheduled team practices and games
* Injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, organization and administration, and professional responsibility
* Assist Sports Medicine Team with Pre-Participation Physical Examinations
* Refer Iona student-athletes to Team Physician, Specialist, Emergency Room, or other Allied Health Care Provider when appropriate
* Development and implementation of rehabilitation programs individualized to student-athletes under prescribed guidelines by Team Physician
* Maintain a clean and well-organized Athletic Training Room
* Meet NATA continuing education requirements
Qualifications
Required Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training and 1-2 year(s) of professional experience
* Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of New York
* Ability to pass a background check
* Must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association
* Valid Driver's License
Desired Experience
* Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field
* Experience at the NCAA level with Men's Basketball
