Certified Coder- Medical Records (Remote option available) Description: Code all outpatient and inpatient encounters for the purpose of reimbursement, research, and compliance with Federal regulations according to diagnosis(es), operations and procedures using the ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding system.# Demonstrates good judgment and decision-making abilities and utilizes time appropriately.# Entering data into the hospital computer system.# Other duties in the Medical Records Department as assigned by coding manager and/ or HIM Director.# Follows-up the encounter billing exception worklist.# Remote option available Required Skills/Experience Required Coding certification from recognized school or allied health program/association. This would include but is not limited to AHIMA#s Certified Coding Associate (CCA) and AAPC#s Certified Professional Coder- Apprentice (CPC-A) or Certified Outpatient Coder-Apprentice (COC-A). Certification(s) must require testing/exam to verify competence.#Passing score must be presented for verification. Must have one year of experience in hospital-based work relating to the medical record coding process or knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding Medical terminology necessary Must complete coding exam as part of interview process Education/Experience: Must have one year experience in hospital based work relating to the medical record department or knowledge of the ICD-10-CM coding system and CPT-4 coding system and medical terminology/anatomy.
