Opportunity to grow as part of the Certified Medical Assistant Career Ladder!Job Summary:The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will serve as a key member of the patient care team in an ambulatory setting. The CMA will work closely with providers across multiple specialties as well as with other clinical and administrative staff to deliver an exceptional patient experience that contributes to positive health outcomes for patients and a work culture of Service-Oriented, Trust, Empathy, Safety, Inclusion, and Communication.Job Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors, and answer telephone calls promptly.
- Prepare patients for their visit including pre-visit organization of information, taking vital signs, and medication reconciliation. Assist patients with walking, transferring, dressing, collecting and processing specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, etc.
- Perform additional check out functions such as scheduling, referrals and additional tasks as needed.
- Perform venipuncture and prepare and label specimens.
- Collect and label nasopharyngeal specimens for testing.
- Perform EKGs and/or spirometry as requested.
- Enter accurate charges into the EHR.
- Assist providers or other clinical staff with in-office procedures as requested.
- Obtain prior authorizations for medications as requested.
- Maintain diagnostic equipment, perform QC testing and maintain supporting documentation.
- Perform point of care testing.
- Maintain daily refrigerator/freezer logs, monthly AED log and other QA logs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalency and graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program. Associates Degree or additional academic coursework is preferred.
- CMA or equivalency required.
- Current BCLS/AED certification required.
- Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Email systems, etc.
- Will provide coverage as requested throughout FPO practices (multiple sites and flexible schedule). Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Previous medical assisting experience in an outpatient setting preferred.
- Preferred multi-specialty experience in a high-volume setting preferred.
- Prior EMR/EPIC experience preferred.
