Certified Medical Assistant - Southglen Urgent Care

Des Moines, Iowa

PRN, as needed shifts (12 hours per month)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient assessments, exams, and treatments in a fast-paced urgent care environment.
  • Take accurate patient histories, vital signs, and record them in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Administer injections, perform venipuncture, and assist with minor procedures (e.g., suturing, wound care) under the supervision of the healthcare provider.
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as EKGs, basic lab work, and respiratory treatments.
  • Provide patient education and discharge instructions, ensuring they understand their treatment and any necessary follow-up care.
  • Assist with triage, prioritizing patient care based on the severity of their condition.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling follow-up appointments, answering phones, and managing patient flow.
Qualifications
  • Current Certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • High school diploma.
  • BLS and Mandatory Reporter certification.
  • Prior ambulatory clinic or urgent care experience a plus!
