  • Must possess a current, active certification as a Medication Aide in the State of Kentucky.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of and ability to administer mediation per facility policy and within the scope of practice.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of and ability to apply principles of nursing care.
  • Must work effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work without direct supervision.
Responsibilities for Certified Medication Aide (KMA):
  • Consistently model and demonstrate excellence in customer service, with a constant focus on person-centered care/services delivery.
  • Receives report from off-going shift and documents receipt of medication cart keys from off-going shift.
  • Count narcotics with off-going shift.
  • Reports any narcotic discrepancy to the unit charge nurse.
  • Administers medication and treatments as ordered by the attending physician within scope of practice per facility policy.
  • Documents medication and treatment administration per facility policy.
  • Orders refill medication from pharmacy as needed.
  • Assist the unit charge nurse with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges as necessary.
  • Assist with resident meals including passing trays or providing service of food to residents in dining rooms, feeding dependent residents, collecting trays and documenting meal consumption per facility policy.
  • Gives report and documents transfer of medication cart keys to oncoming shift.
  • Counts narcotics with oncoming shift.
  • Duties as assigned within the scope of practice and practice standards
