Our residents are looking for people, who are friendly, attend work on time as scheduled and who want to be a part of the well-being of our Veterans.Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:* Completes required documentation for medication administration.* Administers prescribed medications including; oral, topical, and rectal as well as prescribed treatments such as dressing changes, accucheck glucose monitoring, or enter all nutrition administration in accordance with Physician's orders and in compliance with specific procedures.* Support residents with activities of daily living by assisting with oral care, bathing, toileting, turning, nutrition, etc.* Reports immediately, to the charge nurse, anything unusual regarding residents.* Answers call lights and provides assistance.* Obtains and records vital signs, height and weight as requested.* Turns and repositions every 2 hours.* Measures and records input and output.* Collects specimens.* Places and removes protective or assistive devices.* Checks all assigned residents at end of shift to make sure they are clean, dry and comfortable.* Completes required documentation of ADL's.* Keeps bedside and room clean and clear of clutter to provide aesthetic and safe environment.* Check residents to assure their safety, cleanliness, and comfort.Qualifications:Education* General EducationLicensing & Certification* Valid Kansas Certified Nurse Aide Certification* Valid Kansas Medication Aide CertificationMinimum Qualifications* Certification as a Nurse Aide at time of hire pursuant to K.A.R. 28-39-165.* Certification as a Medication Aide at time of hire pursuant to K.A.R. 26-50-30.* Ability to: report to work as scheduled and remain on duty,* understand and follow verbal and written instructions; read and comprehend written materials to include rules, regulations and procedures,* establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff,* communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and* maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents.Preferred Qualifications* Six months experience working in a long term care settingPost-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements* As authorized by the 2018 Kansas Legislature, effective July 1, 2018, K.S.A. 75-4362 is amended to designate all positions with the Kansas Office of Veterans Services, to include both the Kansas Soldiers' Home and Kansas Veterans' Home as Safety Sensitive positions and subject to the drug testing program.
