CNA License Required
Administrative Functions:
- Accurately record entries on flow sheets, notes, and charts.
- Identify residents using wristbands or photo cards before providing care.
- Promptly report accidents/incidents.
- Use only authorized abbreviations in records.
- Report changes in residents' conditions to the Charge/Staff Nurse.
Admission, Transfer, and Discharge Functions:
- Prepare residents' rooms for their arrival.
- Greet and escort residents to their rooms.
- Make residents comfortable and inventory personal possessions.
- Assist with packing/unpacking during transfers or discharges.
- Transport residents to new rooms or receiving areas.
Personal Nursing Care Functions:
- Assist with daily dental, mouth care, bathing, backrubs, dressing, hair and nail care, shaving, and keeping residents dry.
- Make beds, position bedfast residents, and change bed linens.
- Assist with bowel and bladder functions.
- Collect specimens, assist with medical tests, and prepare residents for physical exams.
- Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents.
- Provide restorative and rehabilitative procedures, and measure/record vital signs.
Special Nursing Care Functions:
- Observe and report pressure areas and skin breakdowns.
- Provide daily perineal care and turn bedfast residents every two hours.
- Perform diabetic urine testing and observe disoriented/comatose residents.
- Turn over medications found in residents' rooms to the Charge/Staff Nurse.
Food Service Functions:
- Prepare residents for meals and assist with feeding.
- Keep water pitchers clean and filled, serve snacks, and provide after-meal care.
- Check rooms for food articles and ensure dietary compliance.
Safety and Sanitation:
- Follow restraint protocols and maintain records of restrained residents.
- Report missing residents promptly.
- Follow safety precautions and maintain clean, dry floors.
- Use gowns and gloves as indicated and follow Universal Precautions.
Residents Rights Functions:
- Maintain confidentiality of resident care information.
- Treat all residents with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Provide nursing care in privacy and knock before entering rooms.
- Report grievances and complaints to the Charge/Staff Nurse.
Working Conditions:
- Work in well-lit and ventilated areas.
- Perform duties involving sitting, standing, bending, and lifting.
- Handle frequent interruptions.
- Interact with residents, personnel, visitors, and government agencies.
- Communicate with nursing and other department personnel.
- Work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays, when necessary.
- Attend continuing education programs.
- Be exposed to falls, burns, odors, and infectious waste.
Education Requirements:
- Minimum 8th-grade education.
- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant or enrolled in a CNA Training Program.
Experience:
- None required; on-the-job training provided.
Specific Requirements:

- Minimum age of 18.
- Work harmoniously with diverse personnel.
- Demonstrate patience, tact, and enthusiasm.
- Incorporate new methods and principles into nursing practices.
Physical Requirements:
- Move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Speak English understandably.
- Cope with mental and emotional stress.
- See and hear or use prosthetics to enable these senses.
- Function independently with personal integrity and emotional stability.
- Be in good general health.
- Lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
