Position Type: Support Staff/Personal Care Assistant Date Posted: 11/21/2024 Location: North Elementary Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description Position Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Location: Osceola School District Reports To: School Nurse and/or Campus Principal Employment Status: Full-Time Position Overview: The Osceola School District CNA plays a key role in supporting students' health and safety. Under the supervision of a licensed school nurse, the CNA provides direct care, health screenings, and assistance with medical and daily living tasks for students with various health needs. This role is vital in fostering a healthy school environment to support academic success. Key Responsibilities:
Health Support for Students: - Assist with basic first aid and care for minor injuries or illnesses.
- Monitor students with chronic health conditions and report changes to the school nurse.
- Administer medications as delegated and supervised by the school nurse following district policy.
Student Assistance: - Provide physical assistance to students, including transfers, mobility support, and adaptive equipment.
- Help students with daily living tasks, such as feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene, ensuring dignity and respect.
Documentation & Communication: - Maintain accurate health records for all students under care, including daily logs and reports.
- Communicate health-related updates to parents, teachers, and school staff while respecting student confidentiality.
Health Education & Screenings: - Support school-wide health screenings (vision, hearing, etc.) by assisting with scheduling and documentation.
- Help implement health and wellness education activities as directed by the school nurse.
Emergency Response: - Provide first aid and CPR during medical emergencies.
- Assist in executing emergency preparedness plans and drills.
Compliance & District Standards: - Ensure compliance with Osceola School District policies and state health regulations.
- Follow the directives of the supervising nurse and maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in Arkansas.
- CPR/First Aid: Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Pediatric or school-setting experience is preferred but not required.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with district and state guidelines.
- Detail-oriented and organized in managing student records and daily responsibilities.
