We also provide generous paid time off so you can spend more time with your family and have a positive work-life balance.The AgencyFor more information about the Department of Health and Human Services and the Clinical Health Services division, clickResponsibilitiesPrinciple Duties:* Assist inmates with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and other related tasks.* Assist in checking vital signs, height, and weight as assigned; collects and maintains records of fluid intake and output; reports on the condition of inmates.* Follow established infection control practices and emergency protocols.* Assist inmates in wheelchairs, on stretchers, and ambulating.* Promote and encourage patient hydration and elimination.* Assist inmates with ambulation, turning and repositioning, and range of motion activities.* Cleanse bedside units, workrooms, and equipment; assists nursing staff with washing and sterilizing equipment.* Prepares and maintains written reports and records as assigned.* Assist with medications ordinarily self-administered when specifically ordered by a physician.* Receives formal and on-the-job training in the theory and techniques of direct care support.* Receives close supervision; work is reviewed through inspections and observations.* Maintains confidentiality of inmate records.* Approaches change in a positive manner.QualificationsQualified candidates must have:* Unrestricted Utah CNA Certificate.Additional Desired Qualifications include:* Knowledge of patient care, personal care techniques, and infection control measures.* Demonstrated ability to take and record vital signs; to transfer and transport patients in a safe manner using proper body mechanics; to recognize signs and symptoms indicating distress; and to perform CPR.* Appropriately intervene in crisis or problem situations.* Ability to work in a secure/locked environment.* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, take initiative, organize duties, and manage timeSupplemental Information* State of Utah Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certificate is required.* This job is NOT public safety certified, and does not require peace officer status or certification.* Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.* Work requires physical exertion.
