Apply today!Our comprehensive benefits include:Short- and long-term disabilityLife insuranceMileage ReimbursementPaid time off401(k) programFlexible Spending Account (FSA)Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Vendor discountsResponsibilitiesPerforms personal care needs when given a patient's assignment and attends his/her requests promptlyReports to the Case Manager immediately, if unable to perform a certain taskProvides patient and family with positive communication techniques, within realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentiality.Meets safety needs of patient and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2)Gives personal care including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos and changing bed linen as often as assignedAssists in dressing and undressing patients as assignedPlans and prepares nutritious meals, including shopping, as assignedAssists in feeding the patient as assignedTakes and records oral, rectal and auxiliary temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure when ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency and when on the plan of careProvides proper care and observation of patient's skin to prevent breakdown of tissue over bony prominenceReports on patient's condition and significant changes to the Case ManagerAlso aware of the caregiver or other individuals living with the patient and interpersonal issues```{=html}``` - Assists in ambulation and exercise as instructed by the hospice nurse or therapist - Provides normal range of motion and transfers/positioning as directed - Assists with self-administered medications as allowed by state regulations, such as reminders - Offers and assists with bedpans and urinals - Provides assistance as assigned with light laundry needs - Performs range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency - Provides respite for patient's/family/caregiver when on-site, as appropriate - Keeps patient's living area clean and orderly, as assigned - Adheres to the organization's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct - Participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities - Respectful of patient and family/caregiver environment and patient's personal needsQualificationsMeets the training requirements of the StateCompleted a minimum of seventy five hours of classroom and supervised practical training Sixteen hours of classroom must be completed prior to a mandatory sixteen hours of practical trainingMinimum of six months experience including providing personal careAt least eighteen years of ageAbility to read and follow written instructions and document care givenUn erstands hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally illSatisfactory references from previous employersAbility to work with little direct supervisionSecure with issues of death/dyingProvides a calm manner when in a patient's homePossess and maintains current CPR certificationDemonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygieneSuccessfully completes a probationary periodThis probationary period is to ensure the aide is competent in the above qualifications and is documented by the supervisor and the employeeStrong oral and written communication skillsGood organizational skillsAbout our Line of BusinessAt Hospice of the Midwest, our primary ambition is to bring first-class care to the warmest and most serene environment possible: home.
