Pay Range: $16.45 - $22.21 / hour Additional components of compensation may include:
    • Evening, night, and weekend differential
    • Overtime
    • On-call pay

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs selected skills: including rooming patient, assisting with treatments and procedures, Phlebotomy, EKG and /or monitoring including documenting complete and accurate information specific to department. Schedules appointments, answers the phone, takes messages and maintains patient demographic financial information. Greets and directs department patients and visitors and provides assistance as necessary. Participates in continuous quality improvement and educational support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System initiatives.EDUCATION/TRAINING: Minimum:N/APreferred:N/ALICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Minimum:Bi-Annual CPR certificationPreferred:Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care TechnicianEXPERIENCE: Minimum:
  • Computer experience
Preferred:
  • 1 year of professional experience in a clinic setting
  • Previous patient care experience in a medical facility
  • Previous receptionist or word processing experience
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:•Good interpersonal, organizational and critical decision-making skills.•Must be able to type accurately and have the ability to type 35 wpm is preferred.•Must be able to operate a variety of general office equipment and use of a computer.•Able to clearly and calmly communicate in English both verbally and in writing with patients, medical staff and the public.•Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:•Prepares patients for examination, treatment and procedures. Performs selected patient care duties which include recording patient histories, vital signs, EKG's, medication reconciliation, specimen collections. Alerts provider/nurse of emergent patient needs.•Replenishes and prepares exam and treatment rooms with medical supplies instruments equipment, maintaining a neat, Clean and appropriately stocked environment.•Cleans and disinfects all exam rooms, instruments and procedure trays operating sterilization equipment and following established department and infection control guidelines.•Helps maintain the Epic in baskets and work lists including normal test results, referrals, over due results and patient calls.•Assists with scheduling of patient tests and related support functions maintaining confidentiality of position acquired information.•Assists with scheduling of patient appointments, test and diagnostic testing. Assists with clerical/receptionist support functions as assigned.•Accurately enters faxed prescription refills into the EMR. Abstracts pertinent patient medical history in a timely manner.•Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient and environmental safety and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and compliance efforts. Assists with the training of new staff.•Exhibits exceptional customer service skills when interacting with patients, families and visitors. Maintains a calm and positive supportive environment following AIDET.•Answers multiple department phone lines, documents into the patient medical record following established system protocols. Avoids using non approved abbreviations.•Ensures that all insurance demographic information is obtained and entered into the system in an accurate manner.
