As part of our interdisciplinary team, you will support the patient by ensuring their activities of daily living are carried out safely. You will act as the eyes and ears of our nurses and therapists. You will be a welcome visitor in the place your patients call home. JOB SUMMARY The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) works under the supervision of a registered nurse or therapist and performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the patient's needs. The CNA is responsible for observing patients, reporting these observations, along with documenting observations and the care performed. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities of the CNA include, but are not limited to, the following: Providing personal care including: Baths Oral hygiene Shampoos Assisting patients with dressing and undressing Nail care Skin care to prevent breakdown Assisting the patient with toileting activities Keeping patient's living area clean and orderly, as appropriate Taking and recording temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure when ordered (with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency). Assisting in ambulation and exercise according to the plan of care. Performing range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered (with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency). Reporting on patient's condition and significant changes to the assigned nurse. Adhering to KVNA's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct. Attend 12 clock hours of in-service training annually during a 12-month period. JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) Must have successfully completed a training and competency evaluation program that is approved by the State of Wisconsin and listed in good standing in the state registry. (Note: CNA will not be considered completed in a program if there has been a continuous 24 month or greater period where the described aide services have not been provided. For lapses of this time or greater, the individual must complete another training and competency program prior to delivering any services.) At least 18 years of age and able to read and follow written instructions. Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision. Demonstrates compassion, tact, patience, and good personal hygiene. Possess and maintain a current CPR certification. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile in good working order that is insured in accordance with agency's requirements. The CNA will not function in any manner viewed as the practice of nursing according to the State's Nurse Practice Act. Specifically, the Home Health Aide will not administer medications, take physician's orders, or perform procedures requiring the training, knowledge, and skill of a nurse, such as sterile techniques.
