Position Summary Want to experience the rewards of providing care to Wisconsin veterans? CNAs at King are responsible for providing direct and indirect nursing care, while following individual programs, for 60 geriatric, disabled and/or cognitively impaired clients at the Wisconsin Veterans Home. Nursing care is provided in accordance with standards set down by the American Nurses Association, gerontological nursing standards, federal, state, VA regulations the mission and philosophy and policies and procedures of the Wisconsin Veterans Home and Department of Veterans Affairs. Responsibilities include providing nursing care that follows a written care plan to help meet the therapeutic, preventative, restorative, spiritual, psychosocial, cognitive, and rehabilitative needs of the members. This includes some cognitive techniques to help maintain the demented member at the highest functional level. This position works as an integral part of the Health Care Team under the limited supervision of a Nursing Supervisor, under the direction of licensed nursing staff. Job duties require the ability to assist in patient mobility efforts, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing. To view a copy of the job description, click here. Salary Information Starting pay is $24.56 per hour. Additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. Starting pay rate for current or former State employees with be in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. Future increases will be in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan. This position is in pay schedule-pay range 06-11. This job does not offer employee benefits. Job Details These are flexible part-time positions with the option to pick up additional hours as desired with no required overtime. Shifts are available AM, PM, NOC, holidays and weekends. Candidate preferences gathered at time of interview. LTE jobs are limited to 1,039 hours in a 12-month period and do not include employee benefits. Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment. Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test. Employees at this healthcare facility are required to report their COVID-19 vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information by their third day of employment. Qualifications These jobs require certification or eligibility for certification as a Wisconsin Nurse Aide and eligibility to work in a federally certified nursing home as a CNA. Candidates must be 18 years old and certified at the time of hire. In addition to the CNA requirement, minimally qualified applicants will have experience: * Providing basic patient care; and * With professional communication; and * With medical recordkeeping Well-qualified applicants will also have experience: * Maintaining equipment and inventory; and/or * Using computer programs; and/or * Performing safely and security duties; and/or * Providing advanced nursing care; and/or * Working as a CNA in a relevant setting (i.e., health care, geriatrics, 24/7 facility) Per Wisconsin Statute 230.26, Wisconsin residency is required for LTE appointments.
