(SY 24-25) Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant GENERAL INFORMATIONTitle: (SY 23-24) Certified Occupational TherapistDepartment: Hutcherson Early Learning CenterSalary Grade: Administrative pay Schedule 5Site/Location: Hutcherson Early Learning CenterReports to: Building Administrator Date: 05-31-2024POSITION SUMMARYPlan and provide therapy to students with developmental and physical disabilities. . Assess students and provide therapeutic intervention to maximize physical or mental functioning, increase independent functioning, and/or adjust to disabilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assess students' level of functioning and need for occupational therapy.
  • Develop an Individual Education Program for each student and participate in IEP meetings with multi-disciplinary team members as well as parents.
  • Implements therapy programs to meet IEP goals.
  • Teaches parents,, teachers or assistants and other appropriate personnel to implement fine motor activities as prescribed by the occupational therapist.
  • Collects and records data on therapy programs.
  • Monitors therapy programs using observations, data and/or pre-post testing.
  • Manages student behavior during therapy.
  • Works cooperatively and communicates appropriately with teaching and support staff.
  • Develops and adheres to a daily schedule.
  • Works with team members to order appropriate materials and equipment; uses and maintains that equipment.
  • Monitors and reports student performance and progress.

  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Must possess a Virginia Board of Medicine license as an occupational therapist. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Knowledge of procedures, activities, and equipment used in occupational therapy.
    • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    • Supervise occupational therapy assistant(s).
