If you are passionate about providing high quality, evidence-based care for individuals in need through an innovative practice, then Forge/KPC is the right fit for you!Who we're looking for:We are seeking a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate with personal, lived experience in their own recover or experience as a family member or loved one, and is trained to provide ongoing support to individuals and their families receiving mental health and/or substance use recovery services. This individual will be supporting a substance abuse intensive outpatient program and is a key member of an interdisciplinary treatment care team.Peer support services are an important part of the treatment and recovery process. Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPAs) draw from personal experience with substance use, and professional training to provide non-clinical support services as identified in the patient's treatment or recovery plan. This individual will be responsible for supporting and guiding people who may be in treatment for substance use, trauma, and/or mental health disorders. CPRAs may also help those in treatment/recovery in the development of recovery plans, effective coping habits, and life skills for navigating recovery.Please note, this position is fully in person located in Rego Park, NY. The schedule is part time, Monday-Thursday 5-9pm. The salary range is $20-22/hr.What you'll be doing:
  • Starting and sustaining mutual support and education groups;
  • Promoting dialogues on recovery and resilience;
  • Teaching and modeling symptom management skills;
  • Teaching and modeling problem-solving skills;
  • Supporting efforts to improve social determinants of health
  • Using the stages in recovery concept to promote self-determination; and
  • Assisting peers in setting goals and following through on wellness and health activities.
  • Non-clinical crisis support
  • Facilitating urine tox screens
  • Educating program participants about various modes of recovery
  • Accompanying clients to bathroom
  • Raising awareness of existing social and other support services
  • Linking participants to formal recovery supports (AA, NA, etc.)
  • Assisting individuals with applying for benefits
What you'll need:
  • Must have an OASAS Certification as a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate in New York State.
  • Must hold a high school diploma or have their GED
  • Must have at least 1 year of related work experience.
