SummaryCHENEGA PRO FEDERAL SOLUTIONS, LLCWest Point, NYThe Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) shall provide anesthesia and related services, in accordance with hospital regulatory, licensing and credentialing policies, and within the AANA Guidelines for Nurse Anesthesia Practice and Code of Ethics at Keller Army Community Hospital, West Point, NY.ResponsibilitiesAssist in anesthesia-related training and/or assigned tasks when not involved in direct patient care.Comply with current standards of anesthesia practice and care and provides anesthesia care that is within the scope of practice, as determined by demonstrated competency, licensure, and clinical privileges delineated by the MTF.Must be able to promptly and properly respond to cardiopulmonary arrests and arrange appropriate backup from the MTF clinical staff.Must be able to demonstrate age-specific competency in the care from a newborn infant to an older adult.Shall administer anesthesia by inhalation, endotracheal intubation, regional (including ultrasound guided), intravenous, topical and administration of all levels of sedation for pediatric and adult patients; this includes pre-intra, and postoperative evaluation, treatment and the support of life functions and vital organs under stress of anesthetic, surgical and other procedures.Shall provide pain management and consultation.May be required to provide consultation, collaborative management or referral to other health care providers as indicated by the health status of the patient.Shall also be responsible for:Diagnosis and ManagementPrescribes medication in accordance with MTF pharmacy and therapeutics.Mechanical ventilator management (invasive and noninvasive)Central Venous pressure monitoringArterial catheter monitoringInitiation and management of patient-controlled analgesia, intrathecal and epidural proceduresProceduresArterial catheter placementEndotracheal and nasotracheal intubationCentral venous catheter insertionsUltrasound guided nerve blocks for upper and lower extremity surgery and/or pain controlRegional Anesthesia/Analgesia cathetersEpidural/spinal placement for labor or surgical managementEmergency cricothyrotomyUltrasound guidance for vascular access and regional anesthesiaAnesthesiaGeneral anesthesiaNeuraxial (spinal and epidural) anesthesiaMonitored Anesthesia Care with and without sedation, under topical and local infiltration.Peripheral nerve block anesthesiaProcedure Advanced privilegesAdvanced nerve block techniques.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsGraduate of a school of professional nursing, approved by a legally designated state accrediting agencyGraduate of an approved program of nurse anesthesia accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Program and Schools or its predecessor.Completed an accredited educational program for advanced practice as a certified nurse practitioner, certified nurse midwife, CRNA, or certified clinical nurse specialist.Possess a certification as a CRNAPossess an active unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse.Possess current, active, valid, unrestricted license in at least one U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, Territory, or jurisdiction as a CRNA.Minimum three (3) years of experience.Possess and maintain certification from the American Red Cross (ARC) for Healthcare Providers in Basic Life Support (BLS), or equivalent from the American Heart Association (AHA) at the time of employment.Possess and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or equivalent from the American Heart Association (AHA) at the time of employment.Possess and maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent from the American Heart Association (AHA) at the time of employment.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesPossess evidence of continuing education which maintains skills and knowledge in the nursing anesthesia specialty.Provide evidence of training and experience with Peripheral Regional Nerve Block anesthesia to include continuing education in sonography and the practice of peripheral regional anesthesia.Proficient in Microsoft Word SuiteAbility to promptly and properly respond to cardiopulmonary arrests and arrange appropriate backup from the MTF clinical staff.Ability to demonstrate age-specific competency in the care from a newborn infant to an older adult.Ability to independently and proficiently perform the below procedures:Arterial catheter placementEndotracheal and nasotracheal intubationCentral venous catheter insertionsUltrasound-guided nerve blocks for upper and lower extremity surgery and/or pain controlRegional Anesthesia/Analgesia cathetersEpidural/spinal placement for labor or surgical managementEmergency cricothyrotomyUltrasound guidance for vascular access and regional anesthesiaGeneral anesthesiaNeuraxial (spinal and epidural) anesthesiaMonitored Anesthesia Care with and without sedation, under topical and local infiltration.Peripheral nerve block anesthesiaProcedure Advanced privilegesAdvanced nerve block techniques.Physical Demands (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
