Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), you will administer respiratory care to patients by the attending physician. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, therapy.

• You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanically ventilated patients
• You will administer and monitor respiratory care treatments
• You will record pertinent information in patient's medical record
• You will perform noninvasive and invasive diagnostic tests and monitoring
• You will perform cleaning, preventative maintenance and calibration of respiratory care equipment as required
• You will function as respiratory care protocol assessor

Job Qualifications

Experience

• 1-3 years of experience
• Acute care hospital experience – preferred

Education

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Graduate of approved respiratory certification program or sufficient college credits to qualify for certification exam – preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license by the State of Texas
• Registered Respiratory Therapist exam must be taken and passed within 6 months of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David's HealthCare policy
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification as per St. David's HealthCare policy
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification as per St. David's HealthCare policy
