Salary: $110,000 with an excellent benefits package
Responsibilities: The Assistant Director of Business serves as an assistant financial officer and assists the Director of Business & Finance in all aspects of the District's financial operations. The Assistant Director provides information and serves as a resource to others, reports financial conditions and identifies financial requirements of the organization while ensuring appropriate accounting controls and procedures are maintained and in place for all District financial operations.
Specific responsibilities will include:
* Assists in the development and implementation of long and short-term financial plans in various areas with a focus on staffing, materials, energy, and transportation.
* Assists in planning, budgeting and forecasting, and in the development and maintenance of the annual budget manual.
* Oversees the day-to-day accounting operations and serves as a back-up to Payroll, Accounts Payable, Benefits, and Accounting.
* Supervises Business Department personnel as directed by the Director of Business & Finance and ensures all policies and procedures are implemented and serve in the role of Director of Business and Finance, as needed.
* Prepares presentations for the Board of Education and other committees as directed and attends and participates in Board of Education meetings, workshops, committees, and seminars as requested.
* Prepares and presents salary and related financial analysis for union negotiations, mediation, and arbitration.
* Serves as liaison with the transportation contractor and oversees the implementation of the transportation policy or any other transportation related issues.
* Participates in the annual audit and assists in bid preparation for major contracts.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or related field.
* Minimum 3 years of work experience in school district or municipal finance department preferred.
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
* Experience with eGMS (Education Grant Management System) preferred.
* Knowledge of the development, implementation, and accounting controls in all financial and business-related operations.
* Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to school business administration, and educational finance operations.
* Knowledge of best practices in the implementation of financial management information systems.
* Excellent interpersonal, planning, organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate others.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve results, building robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
