Job Description:
Oliver James is currently supporting a global insurance carrier with the appointment of CFO for their Reinsurance business unit. Supporting the Group CFO/Finance Director the Reinsurance CFO is responsible for leading financial accounting, internal controls, budgeting and reinsurance accounting for the reinsurance entities. Additionally, the chosen individual will support strategic planning for the Global Finance team, providing direction, oversight, and execution support for critical projects within Reinsurance finance to enhance work process and outcomes.This is a fully remote position with periodic global travel.Compensation on offer ranges from 260-350k base salary with bonus and equity. Compensation will vary pending candidate's experience.Key responsibilities:-
  • Oversee the financial performance of the Reinsurance department whilst overseeing a team of 6
  • Lead Technical Accounting and financial reporting for reinsurance underwriting results and analysis for internal and external reporting on a GAAP, Statutory, and Management reporting basis.
  • Drive improvements to the Reinsurance accounting system to handle complex reinsurance agreements.
  • Responsible for managing operational data and ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Responsible for review and approval of monthly and quarterly reinsurance journal entries and accruals.
  • Manage financial reporting and analysis for reinsurance accounts
  • Oversight of internal control documentation to a SOX level
  • Lead the implementation and integration of the group financial systems for the entity
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial goals are met
  • Provide leadership and guidance to finance team members
Qualifications and Experience
  • Should possess at least 10 years PQE as a MBA, CA, CPA or ACCA accounting designation (or similar) with a proven record of progressive responsibility
  • P&C insurance industry experience essential
  • Experience with involvement in preparation of statutory disclosures
  • Experience with playing a leading role in accounting close processes
  • Experience with general ledger, report writing and SOX control environment
  • Excellent experience with reinsurance accounting and internal reinsurance arrangements
  • Experience with accounting for complex reinsurance transactions
  • Experience with collateral arrangements, reinsurance receivable management and reinsurance taxes an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and client management skills
