With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Job DescriptionArcadis is seeking a Change Order / Cost Engineer to join our NYCDEP Construction Management team in Yonkers, New York.In this role, you will use your NYCDEP change order and cost estimating experience to develop independent complete and accurate cost estimates and lead the processing and negotiation of construction design and field change orders. You will also be responsible for reviewing and assembling contractor time and material records and cost documentation for inclusion in change orders. Will also be responsible for the development of independent cost estimates for potential change orders for submission to the client. Role accountabilities:Leadership: Lead the processing and tracking of design and field change orders to facilitate and expedite the processing of change orders. You will also lead the development of independent cost estimates for change orders including quantity takeoff, pricing, verification of vendor pricing, evaluation of historical cost data, development of estimates for markups and indirect costs in accordance with industry standards, NYCDEP contract requirements and best practices.Oversight: Review and evaluate cost proposals provided by the contractor through plan take-offs, subcontractor proposals and estimates, use of estimating software, construction experience and knowledge. Facilitate cost negotiations with contractors. Part of this responsibility will be to review and evaluate contractor time and material records and cost documentation for inclusion in change orders.Document Preparation:Prepare independent estimates of probable costs for potential change orders; This will include drafting field related change orders and developing scopes of work/cost estimates of the work. You will also develop Authorized Cost Breakdown spreadsheets and Change Order Negotiation Memos for all negotiated change orders in addition to developing and issuing weekly change order status logs.Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management 5 or more years' experience as a cost estimator or change order engineerProficiency with estimating softwareProficiency with and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point)Strong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to understand complex MEP projectsPreferred Qualifications and Experience:Hands-on construction field experience as Inspector, Superintendent, Asst. Superintendent, or Resident Project Representative CCP, CEP, CCM, PMP Certification Expertise with estimating discipline which may include general trades, heavy civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and controlsNYCDEP construction project, change order and payment requisition processing experience.Continue your career journey as an Arcadian.We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
