SUMMARY
The Chaplain and Director of the Christian Leadership Center serves as a missionally central member of the college staff and Student Development team, and will oversee religious life, minister to campus constituents, and manage the area of Christian Leadership, contributing to the overall strategic direction and leadership of the department and division.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manages the design and implementation of the Christian Leadership Center and community education events and the Christian Leadership fundraising dinner in cooperation with the Development team.
Serves as one of the primary liaisons between the College and the United Methodist Church and the GBHEM, including representing the College through church-related forums and by attending events including, but not limited to, campus visit days, summer orientation programs, and the Louisiana Annual Conference. Collaborates with other staff to seek and manage grants.
Serves as the Instructor of Record for REL 200, providing academic support, professional development mentoring, guidance and instruction to Centenary College students.
Collaborates with other Student Development staff members on areas of common programming, in particular with the Office of Professional Discernment.
Offers invocations and serves as needed at campus events including but not limited to monthly faculty meetings, convocations, and commencement.
Plans the annual Christmas Candlelight program in collaboration with the Centenary College Choir director, Camarata director, and the President's Office.
Maintains and implements campus policies regarding outside religious organizations, including approval and oversight of new Religious Life student organizations and provides support to outside campus ministry representatives for Catholic Student Organization, Canterbury House, Baptist Collegiate Ministry, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Collaborates with other faculty and staff on ongoing initiatives such as work with the Interfaith Youth Corps and the Beliefs and Values Project.
Oversees Christian Leadership student internships and small groups and maintains relationships with internship site mentors and small group volunteer leaders.
In cooperation with the Admissions Office, plans and implements a recruitment plan for prospective students, provides coordination in Christian Leadership Center recruitment in churches and faith-based organizations, and conducts interviews with prospective CLC students and exit interviews with CLC departing students.
Participates in campus committees such as Homecoming and Diversity Committee.
Provides one-on-one pastoral care, counseling and referrals upon request; serves as a confidential Title IX resource.
Other related projects, duties, and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum
* Master of Divinity or related Master's degree.
* Licensed Local Pastor in The United Methodist Church.
* People-oriented personality, good communication skills, and able to work with a diverse group of people.
* Well organized and self-motivated.
* Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area.
Preferred
* Commissioned or ordained as a Deacon or an Elder in The United Methodist Church or pursuing such credentials.
* Prior participation in the Christian Leadership Center or another similar program as a student or professional.
* Experience with a selective, residential, Liberal Arts college.
