Summary
Under the direction of the ACEO and Lead Chaplain, provides for the spiritual and emotional welfare of patients and their families and hospital associates during periods of crisis, surgery or critical illness.
Minimal Acceptable Qualifications
Experience: Six months to one year of pastoral experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Education: An ordained/commissioned minister, Master of Divinity degree or working towards an equivalent and ecclesiastically endorsed.
Other:
Demonstrates thorough working knowledge of religious/psychological responses and pastoral conversation for care of individuals during illness and crisis; general working knowledge of medical terminology in order to communicate effectively with staff and physicians and understand extent of patient conditions/needs.
Requires analytical and organizational skills in order to assess the needs of patients, families and associate situations and provide appropriate spiritual/emotional care and comfort.
Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to interact effectively with all internal and external unit customers as needed.
