Location: Gettysburg Hospital, Gettysburg, PA
Schedule: PRN/Per Diem
Hours: Day/Evening/Night
PRN: As needed basis
General Summary
Provides spiritual care and guidance to patients, families, and staff and performs or arranges for religious services to meet patient needs. Needs to be available within 20-25 minutes of receiving hospital requests while on-call.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Provides direct spiritual care to patients/families/caregivers/staff, when needed and assessed.
+ Participates in a spiritual assessment of the patient/family/caregivers, as indicated.
+ Facilitates the development of a plan of care to meet the identified spiritual needs in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.
+ Serves as liaison to community chaplains and faith community leaders, as indicated.
+ Documents all patient/family/caregiver contacts and provides additional written, pertinent information as indicated.
+ Participates in patient care conference and interdisciplinary team meetings.
+ Provides consultation, education and support to the interdisciplinary team on spiritual care.
+ Provides for funeral or memorial services or other services as requested by patient/families.
+ Provides bereavement support.
+ Works across region for the department when needed for coverage.
Travel Requirements:
+ Estimated Amount: - May make home visits.
+ Must live within a hour of GH
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
+ Bachelors Degree Required or
+ Masters Degree for APC Certification Required
Work Experience:
+ 2 years Relevant experience. Required
Courses and Training:
+ Ordained/Endorsed by recognized religious body/proper ecclesiastical authority. Upon Hire Required
+ Certified (or eligible) Chaplain by Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) Upon Hire Preferred or
+ NACC, NAJC Upon Hire Preferred
+ Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology Upon Hire Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Ability to work as member of interdisciplinary team.
+ Comfort in an interfaith setting.
+ Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs and values.
+ Ability to network with community faith group leaders.
