Knowledge of coding and hospital operating policies. Skilled in computer operations. Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets. Strong attention to detail. Accurately enters data into the computer system. Examines documents for accuracy and completeness. Prepares records in accordance with detailed instructions. Works effectively with patients and co-workers. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned. QualificationsEDUCATION & TRAINING: Minimum of two years of formal healthcare training in a certified health information or equivalent field. Associate Degree or higher is preferred. A credential in a health related field, i.e., HIA, HIT, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H is preferred.EXPERIENCE:Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare related setting with additional experience in quality control / federal or state regulations / analysis of healthcare data or similar positionThis position requires reasoning, mathematical, and language skills at the levels listed below:Excellent communication and organizational skills are required. The ability to be a team player and demonstrate problem solving capabilities with other departments and fellow HIM partners is essential Batches and file all charges by department for Emergency Room and ObservationEnsures all charge sheets are received from departments on a timely basisUnderstands data entry of all hospital charges into computer system.Answers telephone and assist hospital staff with their questions.This position requires being seated at a computer monitor almost 95% of the time. A small amount of walking may occur when making rounds to pick up discharged encounters.Researches and audits accounts to ensure accuracyThis position requires knowledge of hospital / clinic and departmental policies and procedures. The ability to retrieve and communicate or otherwise present information in written, auditory, or visual fashion is essential. The methods used to express or exchange ideas are by spoken or written word.
