CHEESE PROCESSING OPERATOR - 2ND SHIFT

Job Description:
SUMMARYThe Cheese Processing Operator performs various tasks to produce grating cheese. This position also completes sanitation of entire grating cheese production area and various duties throughout the facility. This is a 2nd shift schedule working Monday through Friday, 3:00pm - 11:00pm.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Produces grating cheese according to production schedule.
  • Loads cheese and ingredients into a cooking tank according to the recipe and work instructions.
  • Accurately records ingredient amounts and lot numbers on production work order.
  • Using a powered lift truck, moves cheese and ingredients between staging and storage cooler locations.
  • Packages finished product.
  • Utilizes Hand Scanners to issue cheese and ingredients to planned work orders.
  • Completes and documents all necessary sanitation on equipment and utensils in accordance with the Master Cleaning Schedule and Sanitation Instructions.
  • Assists and works closely with the Research & Development group on new products and trials.
  • Complies with all company Safety, HACCP and GMP policies.
  • Immediately reports any food safety or quality issues to management or other individuals authorized to initiate action.
  • Anticipates needs, organizes duties, troubleshoots, and problem solves.

  • Knowledge of operator interfaces to operate automated equipment.
  • Good computer and mechanical skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, including scripts for scanning completions of finished goods, identify product labels, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present the information in one-on-one situations to co-workers.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-, three- and four-digit numbers.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement and counts.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.Occasional overtime may be required.TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USEDWhile performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may be required to work withmotorized pallet truck, hand knives, calculator, box taper, metal detector, equipment controls, bag sealer, chart recorder, various hand tools, desk top computer, label printer and data collection device.PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREDPersonal protective equipment that is required when working with hazardous materials or loud equipment includes: safety goggles, rubber or latex gloves, and hearing protection.
