This is a permanent, full-time position that operates on a 2-2-3 day shift schedule. The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete process of cheese making, including sourcing ingredients, processing, aging, and packaging. This role requires a deep understanding of the art and science of cheese making, as well as the ability to maintain strict quality control standards.Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire cheese production process, from sourcing high-quality ingredients to aging and packaging.
- Monitor and control the temperature, pH levels, and humidity during the cheese making process to ensure optimal conditions.
- Collaborate with the quality control team to maintain strict standards and ensure that all cheese products meet or exceed them.
- Develop and implement new recipes and techniques for cheese making, focusing on both traditional and innovative approaches.
- Conduct regular maintenance and cleaning of all cheese-making equipment to ensure its proper function and longevity.
- Train and mentor junior staff members, sharing your knowledge and passion for cheese making.
- Comply with all relevant safety and sanitation regulations.
- Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Continually strive for improvement in the cheese-making process, seeking out the latest industry trends and techniques.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in cheese production or a related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the cheese-making process, including the ability to control and modify conditions for different types of cheese.
- Strong understanding of quality control standards and health and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy items or stand for extended periods.
- A passion for cheese, a creative mindset, and a desire to continually learn and improve.
- Certification from a recognized cheese-making course or institution is highly desirable.
