Salary: 70,000-75,000

Job Summary

Are you passionate about culinary excellence and ready to make an impact in a vibrant campus environment? Chartwells Higher Education is looking for a talented Chef Manager to lead the culinary and food service operations for one of Hofstra University's LATE NIGHT dining programs (Hours of Operation for this unit is 6pm-3am, 7 days a week).

** This position will work the academic calendar with the possibility of being furloughed during summer and winter breaks. **

Key Responsibilities:

  • Culinary management of food service operation to include but not limited to menu development/implementation, food quality, inventory and ordering
  • Manages day to day operations of the unit
  • Conducts HR functions including hiring, training, progressive counseling, terminations
  • Manages in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Maintains excellent relationships with customers, guests and Client as well as other departments
  • Rolls out new programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have a working knowledge of HACCP
  • Three years of culinary management experience in contract foodservice, fine dining setting, or restaurant with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control
  • Extensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Experience with exposition cooking needed
  • Knowledge of P&L accountability and contract-managed service experience is desirable
  • ServSafe certified is a plus
