A chemical lab technician is responsible for the preparation and analysis of steel samples using x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, optical emission spectroscopy, and combustion analysis. They will be responsible to communicate results to producing departments in a timely manner to support melting operations. Other tasks include chemical titrations and corrosion testing. An applicant will be responsible to follow standard work instructions as well as troubleshoot problems in testing as they occur.Requirements:
- An Associate Degree in Chemistry or two years in a physical science curriculum is preferred.
- Experience in a laboratory and/or with quality functions is preferred.
- Must possess an understanding of laboratory principles, standards, methods, and quality assurance practices.
- Must be able to interface with laboratory computer systems to register samples, report results, and reference methods.
- Must be dependable, a good problem solver, and possess good team work skills.
- Must be able to work independently, be self-directed and make timely decisions in a drug free work environment.
- The willingness and availability to work any of three shifts, and overtime to include week-ends as needed, is a must in this position.
